Our health and well being is your most precious asset; without your health your whole world can be turned upside down. In yesterday's newspaper; there was a comic the main character asked his doctor; "What is wrong with me" The doctor's response was: 1. You eat and drink too much, not getting enough sleep; lack of exercise, knees, back, have issues; hearing and eye sight need assistance. So, his response is: "Can I take a pill for this"? In our I want it now world, we take our health for granted. We want it all in an instant; like putting food in the microwave. Your health and wellbeing is your responsibility. we all want the results but with non of the work involved. The programs on the TV or radio tout equipment to help sculpt our bodies into fashion models; or even the latest pill or drink mix. Healthy foods, fresh clean water and healthy fitness is the way to achieve optimum health and vitality. Each person should do at least 10 to 15 minutes a day of activity., either walking, gardening, biking, hiking; any physical activity during the course of your day. Your health is a treasure, when you are healthy and well not just you benefit but your family, friends and everyone who loves and needs you. Setting realistic goals for weight loss is important not only for your self esteem but for your overall wellbeing as well. Reaching a goal doing sensible dieting and excersice is important. When you start a diet, or decide to make any changes in your eating habits, it's always best to start with small changes. Replace one unhealthy item with a healthy one. In place of sugared soda, drink water with a slice of lemon or lime. Take a walk, to rejuvenate yourself to feel more energized. Instead of starchy food such as white rice or white bread replace it with a whole grain brown rice or whole wheat bread. Spice up your food with flavorful spices instead of oils and fats. I like to use garlic, turmeric, oregano, or onion, all of which are readily available as powders. When you start a plan of action make it one that is realistic to reach. If you say you want to lose weight to fit into a dress for an occassion, that's nice to say, but, if you get distracted by other matters, the diet plan can get off track or you will feel that what you are doing is boring and lose interest. Instead set goals to achieve overall health for a better you each and every day.

No matter what your age it is important to be fit, healthy, and flexible. As we age, our balance and flexibility are challenged. Yoga assist with these issues. strengthing bones, and creating flexibility with everyday movements. Senior Yoga can be completed sitting in a chair or holding onto the chair for support so balance should never stop anyone from trying. Bands can be used for raising legs up and down. Blocks are available for your hands when completing a forward fold. Age should never be a factor in limiting health.

With our busy lifestyles balancing family, work and other responsibilities finding the time to exercise can pose a challenge.
Here are a few tips to get fitness into your schedule: 1. Walking: even if its only 10 minutes a day, take the time to walk and build up to 20 or 30 minutes. 2. If you cannot get out due to inclement weather, put on a favorite DVD or music and get up and dance. It's fun and it gets you moving. 3. Join a club with a friend or family member. This way you encourage each other towards your fitness goals. As always, before you begin any exercise routine always check with your doctor.

Hello,
Taking small steps to improve your health and well being doesn't have to be a daunting task.
When you begin any exercise program, one step at a time is the way to begin making healthy choices for yourself and your family. Here are some steps to take to achieve a healthy lifestyle: 1. Set realistic goals 2. When making a meal, portion it out so you have some for work. This way you will not be tempted to order in. 3. Bring a refillable water bottle so you stay refreshed and hydrated all day long. 4. Bring sneakers to work - start a walking lunch hour group with your friends. If you cannot go outside find a place indoors you can walk around in. 5. Bring a snack to work for those afternoon munchies. Whole wheat crackers with low fat cheese is good or try slices of fresh fruit. 6. Journaling is a great way to keep track of your eating habits. Was it stress at work? A party where there were too many temptations? . Where you bored? tired? Whatever the reason, writing this down can help you understand how emotions can trigger unhealthy eating habits. With any diet or exercise program always consult your doctor for advice.

At any given time you watch the television or turn on the radio it's another person touting their latest gadget of fitness equipment to get you instantly fit and trim. They display people with perfect fiqures, (especially perfect abs) that they claim their machine will give you. The expense for all these items is convienetly stated in several easy payments and don't forget to call now! Our operators are standing by. We seem to believe that any instant quick fix will give us the perfect figure that we crave. With this perfect figure all our dreams will come true: instant popularity, success, and all that life has to offer. There are also the instant diet plans with testimonials from actual people that swear they did this program and it changed their lives. In our instant results-society we expect magic from pills, diets, and machines that are touted on the television with pictures of perfect bodies. They negelect to tell you that all these people do all day long is fitness. The persons involved do these excersices 8 hours a day. This is their job. Our jobs are more complicated. We have 9 to 5 responsibilities and family obligations. We cannot spend 8 hours a day doing fitness. The average person needs to do at least 20 to 30 minutes a day of any type of physical activity.
Get fit the proper way: eat right and exercise.
There is no miracle cure.

Hello Fairfield County Connecticut!
Let's talk about the workplace as an opportunity for fitness.
We sit at our desk all day at a computer, sitting in a chair that does not support our backs. And the vending machine is the "unhealthy" beast waiting to get us when we "cave in" to those afternoon cravings. So, what do you do? Well here are few helpful hints. Take lunch with you to work, take a healthy snack such as whole wheat crackers, low fat cheese and carrot sticks. Slices of pear, an apple, or a banana, or an orange, a bunch of grapes. Dried fruit works as well to with unsalted sunflower seeds. Any one of these options gives you the healthy alternative that satisfies your afternoon cravings.
For exercise, let's walk. If you take a least 15 minutes away from your desk a walk will give you the welcome break you deserve. To stretch your legs getting some fresh air outside. If its too cold walk around the lower lobby. You can even have a office walking group.
